Anita McSwain, MD, is an assistant professor of Surgery who specializes in breast surgery with The Breast Care Center at The GW Medical Faculty Associates.
Dr. McSwain is a graduate of The University of Richmond and the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She completed her residency in general surgery at the Emory University Affiliated Hospitals and earned her Masters of Public Health in International Health at the Rollins School of Public Health. She is board-certified in General Surgery.
Dr. McSwain was an active-duty surgeon with the United States Air Force from 2002 to 2007. During this time, she was deployed to Qatar and Iraq as a general and trauma surgeon. She is currently a member of the United States Air Force Reserve.
Dr. McSwain is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons. Her clinical interests include international health and public outreach, particularly with respect to breast health.
