Dr. Imad Tabbara
About Dr. Imad Tabbara

Dr. Imad Tabbara is a hematologist and medical oncologist at The GW Medical Faculty Associates.  His career has been focused on the treatment of cancer patients, as well as, patients with benign and malignant hematologic disorders.

Dr. Tabbara has researched blood and bone marrow stem cell transplant. He established the bone marrow transplant program at GWU Medical Center in 1992 and has performed several hundred stem cell transplants treating patients with leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma and myelodysplastic syndrome.

Additional areas of interest for Dr. Tabbara are breast and lung cancers. He has served as the director of the medical thoracic oncology program at GWU since 2003.

Dr. Tabbara obtained his undergraduate and medical degrees from the American University of Beirut.  He completed his fellowship training in Hematology/Oncology at the University of Virginia (UVA) and was appointed as an assistant professor of Medicine at UVA for four years prior to joining the faculty at GWU.  Dr. Tabbara is board-certified in Hematology and Medical Oncology, and serves as the director of the fellowship Training Program at GWU. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and a member of the American Society of Hematology and The American Society of Clinical Oncology.
