Out-patient care permits patients to continue functioning at work, in school, and in families, which is ultimately most effective. Respecting patient confidentiality, our specialized staff, when authorized by the patient, work closely with employers, employee assistance program personnel, and family members to coordinate maximum support. Drug tests are available when required by the patient's employer.
As a fully recognized tertiary care facility, The George Washington University Medical Center offers a complete range of diagnostic and treatment services for the many chemical dependency patients who also suffer from related medical problems.
The psychosocial component of treatment is based on the latest scientific research on effective interventions. The treatment used was developed as part of Project Match, a National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism funded five-year study which showed that treatments work best according to individual patient characteristics.
