Katrina Hawkins, MD is an intensivist and hospitalist at The GW Medical Faculty Associates and an assistant professor in the Department of Anesthesia and the Department of Medicine at The George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences. A native Californian, she completed her undergraduate degree in Psychobiology at the University of California, Los Angeles. After spending a year teaching science to underprivileged youth in Los Angeles she came to DC for medical school at GW, graduating in 2005. She remained here for residency in Internal Medicine followed by a year of Chief Residency. She subsequently completed a fellowship in Critical Care Medicine also here at GW from 2009-2011. As a current faculty member, she is hoping to serve as a liaison between the hospitalists and internists to help create smooth transitions between the ICU and the medicine floors.
Dr. Hawkins has a particular interest in sepsis and is currently involved in several clinical research projects within the Department of Critical Care Medicine. She also has a strong interest in teaching and hopes to be involved in mentoring residents and medical students in both the Departments of Medicine and Anesthesiology.
Dr. Hawkins is board-certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
