Associate Professor of Surgery
Fred Brody, MD is the Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery and an associate professor of Surgery. Dr. Brody completed a Fellowship in Laparoscopic Surgery at Duke University Medical Center and was a faculty member at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation for five years before joining the staff at GW in 2003. Dr. Brody is an active member of several national academic societies. His clinical expertise is in Laparoscopic Surgery for a variety of diseases including the stomach, esophagus, spleen, gallbladder, adrenals, pancreas, hernias, and colon. His research interests include clinical trials regarding surgical outcomes and innovative laparoscopic techniques. His other research interests include the genomic analyses of the gastrointestinal tract and the metabolic syndrome. Dr. Brody is extensively published in the literature on these clinical and basic science topics.
