Mobile health technology is one of the fastest growing industries in the world. More and more people are using their cell phones to manage their health, and hospitals are looking at similar applications to cut costs and improve patient care. Doctors at The GW Medical Faculty Associates in Washington DC are piloting a system to monitor hypertension and blood sugar levels among diabetics. Around 19 million Americans have been diagnosed with diabetes and a further 79 million are at risk of developing the disease. Jane O’Brien reports from Washington.
