myHealth: Patient Portal Guidelines

Explanation of and Guidelines for Use of myHealth

myHealth is the Medical Faculty Associates’ (“MFA”) secure online patient portal designed to provide you with a convenient way to communicate with your physician’s office.  myHealth allows you to send messages to your health care team to coordinate your care. This tool is not designed to replace the face-to-face encounters, but rather it is intended to supplement other methods of communication with the providers of your health care (e.g. appointments, phone calls, etc.).  myHealth is not for use in case of emergency.

General Guidelines for Communication

myHealth allows you to ask questions about your lab results and other tests, conveniently request prescription refills and appointments, and send brief, specific messages to your provider and their support staff.  If your concerns are too complex or general for an online communication, we may ask you to come in for an appointment, so that all your concerns and questions can be fully addressed. All myHealth communications will become part of your permanent medical record. Please keep that in mind when you send or respond to messages.

Messages sent via myHealth are checked during normal office hours.  For messages that need an immediate response, call the office and speak with a member of our staff.  For life threatening emergencies, call 911.

Privacy and Security

Privacy laws prevent us from communicating personal health information through traditional email. All communications through the myHealth portal are secure and encrypted. Be aware that messages are not exclusively read by your provider, but, similar to phone communications, myHealth messages may be read and addressed by various members of your health care team. When your provider is out of the office your messages may be addressed by another provider.

The ability to use myHealth is a privilege and a courtesy meant to enhance communication between our patients and their health care team. Please use it accordingly.

Feedback and Suggestions

We hope that use of myHealth will improve the patient experience at MFA by allowing our patients to make requests and share information pertinent to their medical care with ease and convenience. We are continually working to improve access to services and we welcome your suggestions and feedback. To share your comments, please visit and choose Contact. Then select “myHealth” from the drop down menu.
