Leah M. Schulte, MD, is a physician in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery with The GW Medical Faculty Associates. She is also the director of Orthopaedic Trauma at The George Washington University Hospital and an assistant professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at The George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences.
After receiving her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, she completed her Orthopaedic Surgery training at The George Washington University Medical Center. She then went on the complete a fellowship in Orthopaedic Trauma at Allegheny General Hospital.
Dr. Schulte actively pursues research in ways to improve orthopaedic trauma surgery and techniques to salvage failed fracture surgery. She has been published in a variety of medical journals, including Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, Spine, and Current Orthopaedic Practice. She is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Orthopaedic Trauma Association.
At The GW Medical Faculty Associates, she offers expertise in complex periarticular fractures, pelvic fractures, and acetabular fractures. In particular, she has an interest in malunions, nonunions, and posttraumatic reconstruction. Additionally, Dr. Schulte is dedicated to teaching resident surgeons, medical students and other trauma surgeons.
