Dr. Mauro completed medical school and residency training in Internal Medicine at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL. She then worked as a hospitalist at The Washington Hospital Center in DC followed by a fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. As a fellow, she did clinical research with the gastrointestinal oncology research group focusing on pancreatic cancer. While seeing some GI cancers and general hematology, she has switched her focus to mostly breast cancer while at GW. This involves a close working relationship with the breast surgeons, genetic counselors, and radiation oncologists to provide an integrated care plan for each of her patients.
Dr. Mauro is board certified in Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology, and Hematology. She is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Hematology.
