Dr. Beverly Long is an assistant professor of OB/GYN at the GW School of Medicine & Health Sciences. She specializes in the care of women with gynecologic malignancies or complex surgical needs. She performs radical and staging surgeries for ovarian, peritoneal, uterine, cervical, vaginal, and vulvar cancers. She is also trained in minimally invasive and robotic surgery as well as sentinel lymph node biopsy for uterine, cervical, and vulvar cancer. Her expertise includes administration of chemotherapy, targeted therapies, and immunotherapy for gynecologic cancers. Her clinical interests include complex ovarian cancer surgery, robotic surgery, and extramammary Paget’s disease.
Dr. Long completed her bachelor’s degree at University of Central Florida with suma cum laude honors and received her medical degree from the University of South Alabama. She completed residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at University of California Irvine Medical Center, where she served as administrative chief resident. She completed fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at Mayo Clinic. During fellowship, she was trained to perform complex surgery and administer chemotherapy for gynecologic cancers.
Dr. Long has published in multiple areas including healthcare disparities, endometrial cancer, and extramammary Paget’s disease. Her work has been presented at national and international conferences. Her research interests include healthcare disparities and quality improvement, genetics, and epidemiology. She is a member of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology.
