Cherie Q. Marfori, MD, FACOG is a surgical gynecologist and Assistant Professor with the George Washington University.  She specializes in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (MIGS) and is the Fellowship Director of GW's fellowship in MIGS.  She is also the Director of GW's Center of Excellence in Minimally-Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (COEMIG).  She enjoys shaping the surgical skills of both her Fellows and Residents alike to ensure that all patients, someday, will have access to the benefits of a minimally-invasive surgical approach.

Dr. Marfori enjoys caring for problems across the entire surgical gynecologic spectrum including fibroids, endometriosis, gender dysphoria, Muellerian anomalies, Asherman’s syndrome, and pelvic organ prolapse.  She is also an expert in diagnostic and operative office-based flexible and rigid hysteroscopy,  in addition to laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgeries in the OR setting.  She performs and teaches others the newest minimally-invasive techniques such as single-port and two-port hysterectomies, and is engaged in research to determine which procedure results in the best outcomes for differing patients.

Dr. Marfori has been named a "Top Doctor" by Washingtonian magazine since 2016.  Her training included a B.S. from Wake Forest University and a medical degree from The University of Virginia.  She completed her residency at The University of Massachusetts and then joined GW and completed her fellowship in MIGS there.  She is active in departmental clinical research and has presented this work at national meetings of The American College of OB/GYN (ACOG), American Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics (APGO) and the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL).  She is board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Fellow of ACOG.
