Publications

Jonathan H. Chow, MD is board-certified in Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine. He completed his medical degree at Albany Medical College in Albany, New York. After finishing his Anesthesiology residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center in 2016, he subsequently pursued a fellowship in Critical Care Medicine at George Washington University. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology, has additional subspeciality certification in Critical Care Medicine, and is a Testamur of the National Board of Echocardiography for Special Competence in Basic Perioperative TEE.

Prior to joining the faculty at George Washington University, Dr. Chow was an Assistant Professor and faculty member at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where he worked as an anesthesiologist specializing in Critical Care Medicine and liver transplantation. In addition, he served as the Program Director for the Critical Care Anesthesiology Fellowship and worked as in Intensivist in the Surgical ICU and COVID-19 ICU. In 2020, Dr. Chow was awarded the US News and World Report Hospital Heroes Award for his role in using robotics to care for critically ill patients and protect frontline healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, he joined the faculty at George Washington University to serve as the Director of Transplant Anesthesiology and the Director of the Critical Care Anesthesiology Fellowship and has roles in both the Operating Room and in the Intensive Care Unit.

Dr. Chow has published more than 40 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals and books, and has several on-going investigations in the areas of COVID-19, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), distributive shock, and thromboelastography. He has given numerous national and international lectures on a myriad of topics such as novel treatment methods for vasoplegic shock, goal-directed resuscitation in trauma, and emerging therapeutics for COVID-19.
