Marc Siegel, MD is currently Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the George Washington University.  Before joining the Medical Faculty Associates in August 2009 he ran his own Internal Medicine practice in York, Maine for 6 years and then started his Infectious Diseases fellowship at George Washington University in 2007.  Since being at the MFA, he has become the primary treatment provider for hepatitis C mono-infected and hepatitis C and HIV co-infected patient as well as taking care of a large group of HIV-infected patients in the Infectious Diseases clinic.  He has been the Principal Investigator for three clinical trials in both hepatitis C mono-infected and co-infected patients.  He is currently researching inflammatory markers and markers of immune activation, aging and inflammation in HIV and HCV mono-infected as well as HIV and HCV co-infected patients.  Dr Siegel has also been working with Dr. Manya Magnus at the GW School of Biostats and Epidemiology looking at HIV Preexposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) in patients at risk of acquiring HIV.  The GW site has become one of the leading sites for recruitment for the HIV Prevention Trials Network (HPTN) and this continues to be an area of exciting research activity.
