Michael J. Horan, MD, MPH, FACP is a board-certified in General Preventive Medicine and currently practices urgent care and primary care medicine at Metro Immediate & Primary Care in Washington, DC. He graduated with his bachelors from Manhattan College in New York and then went on to complete his Doctorate of Medicine from Georgetown University in Washington, DC.  Dr. Horan completed his internship in Internal Medicine from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Shortly after his internship, Dr. Horan completed his residency in Internal Medicine and General Preventive Medicine which were also completed at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. After completing his residency, Dr. Horan received his Master’s in Public Health from the Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health as a part of a broad-based program which included: Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Public Health, Preventive Medicine, Health Care Organization, and Health Services Research Methods.

Dr. Horan was an assistant professor of medicine at the Johns Hopkins University Department of Medicine for over ten years before joining the NIH. During his time as an assistant professor, Dr. Horan was involved in Teaching, patient care and research, co-director of the physical diagnosis course, director of the hypertension management clinic, and conducting health services and clinical research, including clinical trials on the treatment of high blood pressure. Among the many distinguished positions he held while at the NIH, Dr. Horan’s last position was the Director of the Division of Heart and Vascular Diseases with the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute.

Dr. Horan is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and of the American College of Preventive Medicine as well as a part of the American Public Health Association.
