Biography

Michael Johnson is a board-certified physician assistant in the Department of Neurosurgery for The GW Medical Faculty Associates. He completed his undergraduate education at the University of Northern Colorado and returned home to Las Vegas, Nevada where he served his community as a Firefighter-EMT. He later attended Touro University Nevada earning a Masters of Physician Assistant Studies. Prior to joining the Department of Neurosurgery at the GW MFA he worked in emergency medicine.

Michael has extensive experience in general neurosurgery and his clinical interests include complex and minimally invasive spine surgery, neurotrauma, vertebral augmentation, and endovascular neurosurgery. He is an experienced educator, former master fire instructor, and currently a clinical instructor of physician assistant studies at The George Washington University School of Medicine.

Michael is an associate member of the American Academy of Neurosurgeons, and a member of the Association of Neurosurgical Physician Assistants and the District of Columbia Academy of Physician Assistants. Michael is board certified by the NCCPA and is licensed to practice medicine in the District of Columbia and Maryland. He lives in Washington, DC with his family and is a regular bike commuter and serves his community as the safety officer for a local little league.
