Mojgan Ghazirad, MD, MHA, FAAP is an attending neonatologist at The GW Medical Faculty Associates. She graduated from Tehran University of Medical Sciences in Iran in the year 2000 and received her Master’s in Health Administration from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada in 2004. She moved to the United States in 2005 and completed her pediatric residency at Inova Fairfax hospital in Northern Virginia. She obtained her American Board of Pediatrics certification in 2010 and became the Fellow of American Academy of Pediatrics in 2011. She continued her studies in neonatology at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC and received her Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Board Certification in 2013. She has been working as an attending neonatologist at George Washington University Hospital, in newborn services since 2013.
Dr. Ghazirad is interested in studying effects of social disparity on maternal and neonatal health outcomes. She has done research on identifying factors associated with lower health outcomes in different racial and socio-economic populations. She teaches essentials of neonatology to pediatric residents and neonatal- perinatal fellows at the George Washington University during rounds in neonatal ICU and at the bedside, during high risk deliveries.
Furthermore, Dr.Ghazirad has received a Master’s in Fine Arts in creative writing from Southern New Hampshire University in 2018. She has written three collections of short stories related to her life experience as a doctor and as a neonatologist. She is currently working on her memoir of growing in post-revolutionary Iran.
