Tamara (Tammy) Swigert, BSN, RN, CDE is a registered nurse and certified diabetes educator. She earned her Bachelor and Masters of Science in Nursing at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Her husband is active-duty Air Force, which has allowed her to live in many places and work with different patient populations, in both clinic and inpatient hospital settings. She has practiced nursing in South Carolina, Kansas, Texas, Colorado (where she was named Diabetes Educator of the Year, 2015) and now Washington, DC.
Tammy joined the MFA endocrinology team in September of 2017. She feels fortunate to work with such a diverse and talented group of providers and staff. She serves as the quality coordinator for the ADA-Recognized Diabetes Self-management Program at MFA. Tammy has type 1 diabetes and appreciates how challenging living with diabetes can be. She enjoys strategizing with patients on ways to manage it effectively and efficiently to maximize one’s quality of life!
