About Kahlil Johnson

Kahlil A. Johnson, M.D. is a Forensic and Board Certified General Psychiatrist.  He completed his Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship at Saint Elizabeths Hospital, and his Psychiatry Residency training at the George Washington University Medical Center, where he also served as the Chief Psychiatric Resident.  Dr. Johnson earned his Medical Degree from the Howard University College of Medicine and his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Howard University.  Dr. Johnson is the former Director of Psychiatry at Unity Health Care, Inc., where he oversaw the psychiatric care provided at the D.C. Jail and over 20 community sites for several years before starting his Forensic Fellowship. He was an American Psychiatric Association Jeanne Spurlock Congressional Fellow during which he worked in the U.S. House of Representatives with the Chairman of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, who was also a senior member of the Energy and Commerce Health Sub-Committee. While on Capitol Hill he worked on several key policies including the Affordable Care Act.  Dr. Johnson has also served as clinical faculty for the Saint Elizabeths Hospital Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship and as a clinical site supervisor for the George Washington University Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Sciences.  Dr. Johnson works with the U.S. Department of Justice as a Mental Health Monitor to assist failing jail systems with improving the mental health services that they provide.  He has an interest in risk assessment research with a specific focus on identifying risk factors for becoming a terrorist.
